EDUCATION

Our work in the area of education has included the development of education-focused SBC and communication strategies, capacity strengthening of education personnel, and the production of participatory and visual learning materials. We have delivered education-related assignments for organisations including UNICEF in countries such as Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Sudan, Jordan, and Lebanon. We have a particular focus on protective learning and social norms, and bring experience designing tools that support inclusive, dialogue-based engagement in both formal and informal education settings.

Services

  • Strategy: We provide strategic support in the integration of SBC approaches within education programmes, including education in emergencies and protective learning environments.

  • Research: We contribute to participatory research and formative inquiry related to education behaviours and institutional practices.

  • Evaluation: We input into programme reviews that assess education-linked SBC approaches in coordination with other sectors.

  • Capacity: We support the capacity strengthening of education actors through Training of Trainers and tailored participatory learning tools for teachers, facilitators, and community workers.

  • Knowledge Management: We develop training resources and visual materials that consolidate learning from education-focused initiatives and promote wider application.

  • Creative Production: We produce illustrated education tools such as flipcharts, handouts, and visual cards that support learner engagement and safe school messaging.

Our Experience

We are experienced in supporting education programmes that promote child protection, social inclusion, and safe learning environments. We have worked with UNICEF to produce training materials and visual learning tools that support education-focused SBC and communication, including in multilingual and low-literacy contexts. We can demonstrate the ability to co-design, illustrate, and deliver education content in ways that are participatory, field-tested, and adaptable across settings.

Projects & Consultancies

Our past work in the education area includes:

  • SBC Landscape Analysis, UNICEF Botswana (2023): In this assignment we conducted a national SBC landscape analysis covering the health and education sectors. We carried out interviews and workshops with stakeholders in the Ministry of Education to inform national planning.

  • Training Resources for SBC in Health and Education, UNICEF South Sudan (2023): For this assignment we developed dialogue guides and flipcharts covering child nutrition, malaria, and hygiene, for use by education and health staff. We delivered Training of Trainers and created low-literacy, illustrated tools for community-level use.

  • SAWA Anti-Bullying Initiative, UNICEF Jordan (2020): We developed psychosocial training modules for the SAWA programme focused on anti-bullying and positive behaviour in schools. We supported the transition of this content into e-learning formats, including animations for peer audiences.

  • Back-to-School Frontline Training, UNICEF Lebanon (2019): We designed and delivered training on interpersonal communication for frontline workers engaging Syrian refugee parents. The focus was on encouraging school enrolment and overcoming barriers to education access in displacement-affected communities.

  • C4D Training with Education and Child Protection Components, UNICEF Zimbabwe & ESARO (2019): We delivered regional training on communication for development, with modules addressing education and protection in emergency and development contexts. We supported adaptation of facilitation methods for country teams.
