Apply now: Cultural Fund for Malawi (deadline: 23 October 2017)

The Regional Hub for Southern Africa of the Dutch Humanist Institute for Cooperation with Developing Countries (Hivos Foundation) as the grants manager for the Norwegian funded Cultural Fund for Malawi (CFM is calling for proposals from interested civil society organisations in the arts and cultural sector.

The CFM stands on the notion that Freedom of Expression, Cultural Rights and the participation of cultural practitioners in democratic processes and other arenas that facilitate critical debate are essential if people are to form their opinions and become engaged in any genuine democratic development. By providing financial and technical support to cultural practitioners, institutions and activities we aim to establish a professional cultural sector with artistic quality, opportunities for artists to work, develop and earn a living. As a result, cultural practitioners will be empowered to participate actively in democratic processes, have the rights to freely express themselves and are able to hold decision makers accountable, and contribute to economic development. The project disburses funds up to an amount determined at each call to cultural practitioners whose goals fall within the objectives of the CFM. The projects are in the broad sector of arts and culture.

This is the third call for project proposals which will be implemented from January to December 2018.

This is an open call for the various strands in the arts and cultural sector such as film, design, craft, fashion, music, photography, creative writing etc.
